120 Children from grade 1-5 need your help.
$12/ student including: new suitable clothes and essential educational materials.
Education provides children with opportunities to escape poverty, gain a voice in their community and experience a better quality of life. But worldwide, more than 120 million children are unable to attend school.
The Drive Back To School Project appeals to schools, clubs, businesses, temple and individuals to fill backpacks with basic educational materials to send to children receiving Drive Back To School. Very often families cannot afford to buy basic things like pencils and copy books, or even suitable clothes for their children to wear to school. A simple backpack with educational materials can be a lifeline to these children as studies show that an education is the best way a chronically poor child can escape poverty in later life.
This year, Tu Tam joins Family Giving Tree (Milpitas, CA) in hosting Back to School Drive serving children in low-income neighborhoods (homeless shelters, community centers, rehabilitation houses, schools and various nonprofit organizations) and providing backpacks stuffed with school supplies so they’re prepared to learn. It’s more than just gifts or rulers or pencils. It’s giving kids precious, happy memories. It’s amazing to know that we’ve put smiles on the faces of many kids.
